Brass of Peace “Kid-Friendly” Concert
This is a video below is music from “Pavane” by Gabriel Faure as played by the Brass of Peace.
The Brass of Peace presented a free, “Kid-Friendly” concert at Grace United Methodist Church on Saturday February 9 at 2:00. The theme of the concert was “Life Is but a Dream” which was a story told with music. The concert will feature instrument demonstrations and a “petting zoo”.
Brass of Peace will continue its 36th season with this concert, the third of many free community engagement concerts presented this season by the talented young players. The offering will go for the Brass of Peace Scholarship Program (BOP), a tuition free program for talented high school students which allows talented students to be intensively trained over the course of the school year so that they will be better prepared to succeed in the very competitive field of music. For a period of 36 weeks during the school year, the Brass of Peace Scholars, a group of 13-15 gifted children, are given two-hour weekly coaching sessions with the National Symphony Orchestra hornist, Sylvia Alimena.
Members prepare and perform several demanding programs over the course of the year. Brass of Peace is an exciting way for a seasoned professional to directly mentor and pass on the legacy of orchestral style and concepts of reaching for artistic excellence to the next generations of orchestral players.
