The Grace UMC Brass Ensemble rehearses on Thursday evenings from 7:30 – 8:30 p.m. in the Grace United Methodist Church choir room. We also rehearse from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. the two Saturdays prior to our performance on the following Sunday. Members should arrive a few minutes early in order to set up, warm up and be ready to start on time.
Current and future planned music pieces we are preparing for upcoming performances are listed on the Events Calendar event date for each scheduled performance, and via the Soundcloud links below. You can also download the Soundcloud mobile app for your smartphone or tablet device at:
Ensemble members are encouraged to learn their parts during at-home practice utilizing the provided audio mp3 files. This will ensure that our Thursday evening rehearsals are productive and focused on fine-tuning group performance.
Another suggested practice tool is the online metronome, which you can access via the URL below.
Our rehearsal time of one-hour a week is not enough to learn your parts and build up your “chops”, so at-home practice is very important. If you come to rehearsal having worked on your parts, our rehearsal time will be much more productive and fun!
Audio mp3 files are provided to you on-line above, and sometimes as as a DropBox link e-mailed directly to our brass ensemble members. These are extremely beneficial for learning your parts at home (and more enjoyable!). If you choose to download mp3 files, I recommend that you import them into a media player such as iTunes that will allow you to easily play those files from a computer and speakers in your practice room. If you have problems with that, I can provide you with a CD-ROM containing our current music.
